IDEA High-Cost and State Special School Reimbursement (6/9/2025)

IDEA HIGH-COST:

Additional funds for high-cost students with disabilities are subject to the availability of federal funds as specified in Public Law 108-446, Section 602(8) and 611(e)(3). These additional federal funds are distributed to local educational agencies (LEAs) based on special education expenditures from the General Purpose School Funds. 

STATE SPECIAL SCHOOLS TRANSPORTATION:

State Special Schools Transportation Reimbursement Request amounts vary annually based on funding availability, Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) flowthrough, discretionary carry-over, and other funding sources made available to LEAs. 

IDEA State Special Schools Transportation Reimbursement Requests will be reimbursed as funding is available. For the school year 2024-25 (SY 2024-25), the department will reimburse approved requests at a percentage until funds are exhausted. This reimbursement request is not considered IDEA High Cost and impacts Maintenance of Effort.

The FY25 reimbursement applications for IDEA High Cost and State Special Schools Transportation will open in ePlan in mid-June. IDEA Directors with existing ePlan roles will be grandfathered in with access to the data and information tool in ePlan. New users, or users that need the additional role added can request the IDEA High Cost Director role using the ePlan User Access Form for LEAs.

KEY REMINDERS:  

  • IDEA High Cost reimbursement requests will open in ePlan in mid-June and close August 1, 2025.
  • State Special Schools reimbursement requests will open in ePlan in mid-June and close August 1, 2025.  
  • The technical guides and state plans will be emailed to IDEA directors and available in ePlan soon.
  • Office Hours will be provided on Tuesdays mid-June- July to review the IDEA High Cost and State Special Schools Transportation reimbursement request technical guides and answer questions. See here for meeting links. Earlier attendance is recommended to give you plenty of time to complete the applications. Individual support will be scheduled as needed.

Summer Learning ePlan Application Workshop (5/22/2025)

For those who are new to completing the summer learning ePlan application, the Learning Acceleration team offered a one-hour workshop on May 15. The workshop recording can be found here. Instructions for opening the Summer Learning application in ePlan can be found on page 12 of the Technical Application Guide: Learning Camps.

FY25 Homeless Immunization (5/8/2025)

The Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) is required to report annually the number of homeless children enrolled in public schools without immunization or proof of immunization and the average length of time required for these children to be immunized or to obtain immunization records. 

The 2024-25 Homeless Immunization report will be completed in ePlan. The report is due on or before Friday, Aug. 15, 2025. The report can be found in ePlan > Data and Information > FY25 Homeless Immunization Report. Detailed instructions for completing the report can be found here.

FY25 Civil Rights and Bullying Compliance Report (5/7/2025)

Tenn. Code Ann. § 49-6-4503 requires all school districts to implement bullying and harassment policies and report related data annually to the department by August 1.  

The 2024-25 Civil Rights and Bullying Compliance Report must be submitted by Friday, August 1, 2025.   

Please submit information and data for the 2024-25 school year unless otherwise noted. Step-by-step instructions for completing the form in ePlan are available here. For FAQs about the report, click here.

2024-25 Homeless Immunization Report (4/25/2025)

The department is required to report annually the number of homeless children enrolled in public schools without immunization or proof of immunization and the average length of time required for these children to be immunized or to obtain immunization records.

The 2024-25 Homeless Immunization report will be completed in ePlan. The report will open in ePlan on Thursday, May 8, 2025, and is due on or before Friday, Aug. 15, 2025. FY 2025 Alternative Education Survey (4/15/2025)

T.C.A § 49-6-3404 requires the Advisory Council for Alternative Education to, upon request of the governor, the education committee of the senate, either education committee of the house of representatives, or the commissioner of education, make a report on the state of alternative education in this state.   

The FY 2025 Alternative Education Survey will be completed in ePlan. The survey will open in ePlan on Thursday, May 1, 2025, and is due on or before Monday, June 30, 2025.

InformTN Planning Roles (4/11/2025)

To prepare for the opening of the InformTN platform and the School Planning window on Tuesday, May. 1, 2025, district user access administrators can review and assign the School Planning roles that are needed to work on the district plans.  

  • The user report will list everyone in the district with their current roles.

Single Sign On (SSO) Account Set-up and Password Assistance (9/29/2020)

Individuals that have a locked SSO account should send an email to DT.Support@tn.gov requesting a new Welcome email.
